From humble beginnings in Billund, Denmark, the first LEGOLAND® park was opened in 1968 to much cheer from all who love LEGO, and who can now live the world of LEGO on a grand scale. Expanding across new horizons, the next LEGOLAND parks were opened in Windsor (UK) in 1996 and Carlsbad (California) in 1999. Thanks to overwhelming response, the LEGOLAND Deutschland was opened in 2002. All four parks belong to the British-based Merlin Entertainments Group, which also operates other leisure attractions such as the Sea Life centres, the Dungeons, Madame Tussauds and LEGOLAND Discovery centres.
Heeding the call from the rest of world for more LEGO-based attractions, LEGOLAND Florida opened in 2011, bringing more awesome discoveries to all heroes in the States. In 2012, the 1st LEGOLAND in Asia and 1st International Park in Malaysia, LEGOLAND Malaysia, opened as the sixth park, taking visitors across Asia on a “brick-tastic” journey of LEGO adventures.
